Amber & Oriental Perfumes
Amber and oriental compositions are the warmest family in perfumery — built on labdanum, benzoin, vanilla, incense and spice, they carry weight and presence that lighter families cannot match.
What amber actually is
Amber in perfumery is not fossilised resin and has nothing to do with ambergris. It is an accord — a constructed blend, usually labdanum with vanilla and benzoin — that produces a warm, sweet, slightly powdery effect. It has been a foundation of Eastern perfumery for centuries and sits at the base of a large proportion of Gulf fragrances.
When to wear them
These are evening and cool-weather fragrances. In the winter months in the UAE they are at their best, and at weddings, dinners and celebrations they read as appropriately formal. In August heat they can become heavy, so apply with restraint.
Expect strong projection and very long wear — often twelve hours or more from a single application.
