Choosing a Fragrance
What is the difference between Eau de Parfum and Eau de Toilette?
The difference is how much fragrance oil the bottle contains, and it matters more than most people realise:
- Eau de Toilette (EDT) — roughly 5–15% oil. Lighter and fresher, sits closer to the skin, typically 3–5 hours of wear.
- Eau de Parfum (EDP) — roughly 15–20% oil. Richer and longer-lasting, 6–8 hours. For most people in the UAE this is the sensible default.
- Parfum / Extrait / Elixir — 20–40% oil. The most concentrated format, often 10 hours or more, and noticeably deeper in character.
The same fragrance in EDT and EDP will smell related but not identical — higher concentrations shift the balance toward the base notes.
How do I choose a perfume I will actually wear?
Start with the fragrance family rather than the brand. If you like sweet, warm scents, look at gourmands. If you prefer clean and light, try fresh and aquatic. If you want something grounded and long-wearing, woody is the place to start. Once you know your family, the specific bottle matters far less.
Why does my perfume disappear so quickly in the UAE?
Heat accelerates evaporation, and air conditioning dries your skin — both shorten how long a fragrance lasts. Choose an Eau de Parfum over an Eau de Toilette, apply to moisturised skin, and don't rub your wrists together after spraying. We wrote a full guide to this.
What is oud, and why is it expensive?
Oud is resin formed inside Aquilaria trees in response to a specific mould infection. It is one of the rarest natural materials in perfumery, which is why genuine oud compositions cost what they do. It smells woody and resinous with leathery, animalic facets, and it is extremely long-lasting — one or two sprays is usually enough. Browse our oud collection.
What is the difference between designer and niche perfume?
Designer fragrances come from fashion houses and are made to appeal broadly — well-made, widely liked, safe choices. Niche houses work with higher material budgets and fewer commercial compromises, so their fragrances are more distinctive and usually more concentrated. Neither is better; they serve different purposes.
Are Arabic perfumes different?
Yes. Arabian perfumery generally uses higher oil concentrations and builds around oud, amber, rose and musk rather than the lighter compositions common in European fragrance. The result is stronger projection and longer wear — fragrances designed for this climate and this culture.
Which perfume should I buy as a gift?
If you do not know the person's taste well, choose something widely loved rather than unusual. Our gift sets are also good value and look more considered — and the matching body lotion genuinely helps the fragrance last longer.
Products
Are your perfumes original?
Yes. Every fragrance we sell is genuine and sealed.
How should I store my perfume?
Keep bottles somewhere cool, dark and dry — a drawer or cupboard, ideally in the original box. Avoid bathroom shelves, where heat and humidity break the composition down, and never leave a bottle in a parked car. Stored properly, a sealed bottle lasts three to five years.
Do you have a physical shop?
We operate online and deliver across the UAE. For any question about a specific fragrance, email us and we will help you decide before you buy.
