Eau de Toilette
Eau de Toilette carries roughly 5–15% fragrance oil. It is lighter on the skin than an Eau de Parfum, opens brighter, and sits closer to the wearer — which is exactly what you want in some situations and not others.
When EDT is the better choice
Offices, gyms, flights and any shared indoor space where a heavy fragrance would be intrusive. Citrus and aquatic compositions in particular are usually at their best in EDT form, because the format lets the fresh top notes dominate rather than being weighed down by a heavy base.
Making it last longer
Reapplication is normal with EDT and nothing to apologise for — many people carry a travel spray for the afternoon. Spraying onto clothing rather than skin extends wear considerably, though check the fabric first. Applying to moisturised skin also helps.
